minor triad
Melancholy three-note harmony
A minor triad is a three-note chord built from a root, a note three semitones above it (the minor third), and a note seven semitones above the root (the perfect fifth).
It has a darker, sadder quality than a major triad: The song shifts from C major to A minor.
Minor triads form the harmonic foundation of melancholic and introspective music.
