mind expansion
Broadening one's awareness
Mind expansion is the broadening of consciousness, perception, or understanding beyond ordinary limits.
The term gained currency in the 1960s counterculture, where it often referred to altered states induced by psychedelic drugs: LSD was touted as a tool for mind expansion.
But mind expansion also describes intellectual or spiritual growth through meditation, travel, education, or intense experience: Reading philosophy was genuine mind expansion for her.
