military lawyers

Armed forces attorneys

Military lawyers are attorneys who serve in the armed forces, handling legal matters specific to military life—courts-martial, military justice, rules of engagement, and the rights of service members.

In the U.S., they're called Judge Advocate General's Corps officers, or JAGs: The military lawyer advised the commander on detention procedures.

They may prosecute or defend in military tribunals.
