midnight screenings
After-hours film events
Midnight screenings are late-night film showings, typically starting at or around midnight.
The practice originated with cult films like *The Rocky Horror Picture Show*, where devoted fans gathered for ritualized viewings.
Today, midnight screenings often mark the earliest possible showing of highly anticipated blockbusters: We got tickets to the midnight screening of the new Marvel movie.
The format attracts dedicated fans willing to sacrifice sleep for the experience of seeing a film first.
