midcourse correction
In-flight path fix
A midcourse correction is an adjustment made partway through a journey or process.
The term comes from spaceflight, where rockets fire briefly to adjust trajectory between launch and destination.
Figuratively, it describes any strategic change made after something is underway but before completion: The campaign made a midcourse correction after poor polling numbers.
