mic-check
"Can you hear?"
Mic-check is a test to ensure a microphone is working, typically done by speaking into it before an event: Mic-check, one-two, one-two.
The phrase became associated with the Occupy Wall Street movement's "human microphone," where crowds repeated a speaker's words—someone would shout Mic-check! to signal the call-and-response was about to begin.
