Parent orientation event
Meet the teacher is a school event where parents visit classrooms to introduce themselves to their children's teachers at the start of the academic year.
Unlike parent-teacher conferences, which focus on student progress, meet the teacher nights are social: families tour the building, drop off supplies, and put faces to names.
We went to meet the teacher last night and found out she assigns a lot of homework.
