Pushing to limits

Maximisation is the British spelling of maximization—the act of making something as large or complete as possible.

In economics and mathematics, it refers to finding the highest possible value of a function or outcome: profit maximisation, utility maximisation.

The spelling with -ise is standard in British English, while American English uses -ize.
