marcelled
Styled with heat
Marcelled describes hair styled in deep, regular waves using heated curling irons, a technique popular in the 1920s and 1930s.
The marcel wave created a distinctive S-shaped pattern close to the head: Her marcelled hair gleamed under the ballroom lights.
Named after French hairdresser François Marcel, who invented the technique.
