lunar landings
Spacecraft reaching moonscape
Lunar landings are missions in which spacecraft touch down on the Moon's surface.
The term most often refers to crewed missions—the Apollo program achieved six lunar landings between 1969 and 1972.
Uncrewed probes from various nations have also made lunar landings for scientific research.
The first lunar landing captivated a global television audience.
