loony toon
Completely unhinged person
Loony toon is a mildly dismissive term for someone who seems crazy, eccentric, or out of touch with reality: My uncle's a total loony toon—he thinks the moon landing was faked.
The phrase comes from Looney Tunes, the cartoon series, playing on the word "tunes" sounding like "toons" (cartoon characters).
Also spelled looney toon or loony tune.
