Longlisting is the process of creating or being placed on a preliminary list of candidates, nominees, or options before further narrowing.
A longlist typically includes everyone who meets basic criteria, from which a shortlist will be drawn: The novel was longlisted for the Booker Prize.
The verb appears in both active and passive forms: They're longlisting applicants this week, She was longlisted but didn't make the final cut.
