Pre-shortlist selection pool
A longlist is a preliminary selection of candidates, nominees, or options that will later be narrowed to a shortlist.
The term appears most often in contexts like literary prizes, job searches, or procurement: Twenty novels made the longlist for the Booker Prize.
To longlist is to include on such a list: Her manuscript was longlisted but didn't make the final five.
