long lenses
Far-reaching camera optics
Long lenses are camera lenses with long focal lengths, producing magnified images of distant subjects.
They're essential equipment for wildlife photographers, sports shooters, and paparazzi—anyone who needs to capture detail from far away.
The term is informal shorthand among photographers: I brought the long lenses for the safari.
Long lenses compress perspective, making distant objects appear closer together than they actually are.
