long jumpers
Sand pit competitors
Long jumpers are athletes who compete in the long jump, a track and field event requiring a sprint down a runway followed by a leap into a sandpit.
The winner achieves the greatest horizontal distance.
A long jumper may also be a garment—a sleeveless dress or pinafore worn over a blouse, called a long jumper when it extends below the knee.
