living wills
End-of-life instructions
A living will is a legal document specifying what medical treatments a person wants or refuses if they become incapacitated and unable to communicate—particularly regarding life support, resuscitation, and end-of-life care.
Her living will stated she didn't want to be kept alive by machines.
The document "lives" in the sense that it speaks for you while you're still alive but cannot speak for yourself.
