live edge
Bark-intact wood boundary
Live edge describes wood that retains the natural outer contour of the tree, including bark or the irregular surface where bark once was.
The term appears most often in furniture making, where a live edge table or countertop preserves one or more sides in their organic, uncut state: The live edge slab showed the tree's original curves.
The style emphasizes natural beauty over manufactured uniformity.
