light ring

Glowing circular fixture

A light ring is a circular lighting device used in photography and video to produce even, shadowless illumination on a subject's face.

The ring shape creates a distinctive catchlight in the eyes—a circular reflection prized in portrait and beauty work.

Light rings became ubiquitous with the rise of selfie culture and video conferencing: She set up her light ring before the Zoom call.
