light flashes
Sudden bright bursts
Light flashes are brief, sudden bursts of light—whether from a camera, lightning, or emergency vehicles.
The term also describes a visual phenomenon where you perceive flashes without an external source, often caused by pressure on the eye or retinal disturbance: I've been seeing light flashes in my peripheral vision.
Persistent unexplained light flashes warrant medical attention.
