life drawings
Art from models
Life drawings are sketches or studies of the human figure made from direct observation of a live model, typically nude.
This practice is foundational in art education, training artists to capture anatomy, proportion, gesture, and movement.
Sessions range from quick gesture drawings lasting seconds to sustained studies over hours.
The studio offered weekly life drawing classes with rotating models.
The plural form usually refers to a collection of such works or to the practice itself.
