leash pulling
Canine forward lunging
Leash pulling is when a dog strains against its leash during walks, dragging its owner forward.
The behavior is common in untrained or excited dogs and is a primary focus of basic obedience training: We're working on her leash pulling.
Dog trainers distinguish between occasional tugging and chronic pulling that makes walks unpleasant.
