lead climbers
First up rope
Lead climbers are rock climbers who ascend first, clipping their rope into protection points as they go, rather than climbing with the rope already anchored above.
The lead climber faces greater risk—a fall means dropping past the last clipped point before the rope catches.
She's one of the best lead climbers in the gym.
