lawyered
Won through technicalities
Lawyered describes being outmaneuvered by legal expertise or precise argumentation.
Someone who gets lawyered has been defeated by technicalities, careful logic, or rhetorical skill: He tried to wriggle out of the contract, but she lawyered him into compliance.
The term often carries a note of grudging respect—or resentment—toward the person wielding the legal or argumentative advantage.
Popularized by the TV series *How I Met Your Mother*, where a character announces Lawyered! after winning an argument.
