lamias

Serpentine female demons

Lamias are female demons or monsters from Greek mythology, typically depicted as serpentine creatures who prey on children or seduce men to devour them.

The original Lamia was a queen cursed by Hera to become a child-eating monster.

In later folklore and fantasy, lamias often appear as half-woman, half-snake beings: The hero confronted the lamia in her lair.
