labouring
Exerting great effort
Labouring is the British spelling of laboring—working hard, especially at physical tasks: labouring in the fields, labouring over a manuscript.
It also describes the effort of something struggling under strain: a labouring engine, labouring breath.
The labouring classes are those who work with their hands for wages.
