kinged

Reached opposite row

Kinged is the past tense of king, a verb used almost exclusively in checkers (draughts) to describe when a piece reaches the opponent's back row and is crowned, typically by stacking another piece on top.

A kinged piece gains the ability to move backward as well as forward.

Once I kinged my checker, I dominated the board.

The term occasionally appears figuratively to describe someone elevated to a position of greater power or authority.
