kai-lan
Leafy Asian vegetable
Kai-lan is a leafy green vegetable in the brassica family, popular in Chinese cooking.
Also called Chinese broccoli or Chinese kale, it has thick stems and broad, glossy leaves with a slightly bitter taste.
It's typically stir-fried with garlic and oyster sauce or blanched and served as a side dish: The kai-lan was perfectly crisp.
