junior lifeguard
Young water watcher
A junior lifeguard is a young person, typically between ages 9 and 17, enrolled in a training program that teaches ocean safety, swimming skills, first aid, and rescue techniques.
These summer programs, run by beaches and aquatic facilities, prepare participants for future lifeguard certification while building water confidence: My daughter spent the summer in junior lifeguards.
