jousting tournament
Mounted combat contest
A jousting tournament is a medieval competition where armored knights on horseback charge at each other with lances, attempting to unseat their opponents or break lances against their shields.
These events combined martial skill with pageantry and were major social occasions for nobility.
Modern jousting tournaments survive as historical reenactments and Renaissance faire attractions: We watched the jousting tournament after the falconry demonstration.
