jet fighters
Military attack planes
Jet fighters are military aircraft powered by jet engines, designed for air-to-air combat.
They emerged in World War II and now dominate modern air forces.
The term distinguishes them from propeller-driven fighters of earlier eras: Jet fighters scrambled to intercept the incoming bombers.
Also called fighter jets.
