Gelatin fruit dish
Jello salad is a dish of flavored gelatin mixed with fruit, vegetables, or other ingredients, served chilled and often molded.
Despite the name, it's typically sweet and closer to dessert than salad.
The dish was popular at American potlucks and holiday dinners through the mid-20th century: Grandma always brought her lime jello salad with pineapple and cottage cheese.
