invited speaker
Requested conference contributor
An invited speaker is someone asked to give a talk or lecture at an event, conference, or institution.
The term distinguishes those specifically recruited from those who submitted proposals or won competitions: The symposium features three invited speakers and twelve selected presentations.
Being an invited speaker often carries prestige and may include honoraria or travel expenses.
