incontinency

Loss of control

Incontinency is an older or more formal variant of incontinence—the inability to control bodily functions, particularly urination or defecation.

The word also carries a moral sense: lack of self-restraint, especially regarding sexual desire.

The preacher warned against the incontinency of youth.

Both uses are now uncommon, with incontinence preferred.
