improper fractions
Numerator exceeds denominator
An improper fraction has a numerator equal to or larger than its denominator: 5/4, 7/3, 9/9.
The value is one or greater.
Improper fractions can be converted to mixed numbers (5/4 becomes 1¼), though in mathematics they're often preferred because they're easier to work with in calculations.
