ice milk

Ice milk is a frozen dessert similar to ice cream but made with less milkfat, typically containing between 2 and 7 percent compared to ice cream's minimum of 10 percent.

The result is a lighter, less rich treat that was popular in the United States from the mid-20th century until the 1990s, when FDA regulations allowed it to be relabeled as "low-fat ice cream." We used to get ice milk cones because they were cheaper than ice cream.
