hypomanic

Energized but functional

Hypomanic describes a mood state less intense than full mania but noticeably elevated above normal.

Someone hypomanic may feel unusually energetic, talkative, confident, or productive—often pleasantly so—without the severe impairment or psychosis that characterizes mania.

The term appears primarily in psychiatric contexts, especially regarding bipolar II disorder: She recognized her hypomanic episodes by the decreased need for sleep and racing thoughts.
