hyperfocal distance
Depth-of-field boundary
Hyperfocal distance is a photography term for the closest distance at which a lens can be focused while keeping objects at infinity acceptably sharp.
When focused at this distance, depth of field extends from roughly half the hyperfocal distance to infinity, maximizing sharpness throughout the frame.
Landscape photographers use it to keep both foreground and distant elements in focus: I set the hyperfocal distance and got the wildflowers and mountains both sharp.
