hydrogen engine
Water-forming fuel powerplant
A hydrogen engine is an internal combustion engine that burns hydrogen gas as fuel instead of gasoline or diesel.
Unlike hydrogen fuel cells, which generate electricity through chemical reaction, hydrogen engines work through conventional combustion—igniting hydrogen in cylinders to drive pistons.
The technology promises reduced emissions since burning hydrogen produces mainly water vapor rather than carbon dioxide: The prototype truck ran on a hydrogen engine.
