hunting cats
Prowling wild felines
Hunting cats are wild or domestic felines that pursue prey, or domesticated cats specifically bred or trained for pest control.
The phrase also works in reverse—hunting cats can mean pursuing cats as quarry: He spent the morning hunting cats that had gone feral.
Context determines whether cats are hunter or hunted.
