housecall

Physician travels bedside

A housecall is a professional visit to someone's home, especially by a doctor to examine a patient.

The practice was once standard but became rare as medicine centralized in clinics and hospitals: Doctors don't make housecalls anymore.

The term extends to other professionals who come to you: The vet makes housecalls for elderly pets.
