hooklets

Small curved fasteners

Hooklets are small hooks, especially the tiny curved structures found on certain organisms.

Tapeworms and other parasites use hooklets to anchor themselves to host tissue.

The term also applies to the miniature hooks on some plant seeds that catch on fur or fabric for dispersal: The hooklets on the burrs clung to the dog's coat.
