holiday postcards
Trip souvenir correspondence
Holiday postcards are cards featuring scenic images—beaches, landmarks, tourist attractions—sent while traveling to friends and family back home.
The tradition involves brief, cheerful messages about weather and activities: Wish you were here!
The phrase evokes a particular kind of superficial communication, all sunny impressions without depth: His updates read like holiday postcards.
