hoedowns
Rural square dances
A hoedown is a lively American folk dance gathering, typically featuring square dancing or clogging accompanied by fiddle music.
The term evokes rural Americana—barn dances, country fairs, and community celebrations where people stomp and swing their partners.
By extension, hoedown can describe any boisterous, energetic party or commotion: The office Christmas party turned into a real hoedown.
