hip flexor strain

Iliopsoas muscle injury

A hip flexor strain is an injury to the muscles that lift the thigh toward the torso—typically the iliopsoas or rectus femoris.

It results from overstretching or tearing, common in runners, cyclists, and athletes who kick or sprint.

Symptoms include pain in the front of the hip or groin, especially when lifting the knee: I'm out for two weeks with a hip flexor strain.
