heatproofing
Shielding from flames
Heatproofing is the process of making something resistant to heat or high temperatures.
The term applies to treating materials, surfaces, or structures so they won't be damaged by exposure to heat: The heatproofing on the spacecraft's tiles protected it during reentry.
As a mass noun, it also refers to the protective material itself.
