chat-up line
Romantic conversation starter
A chat-up line is a rehearsed remark used to start a conversation with someone you find attractive, typically at a bar or party.
Most are deliberately corny or suggestive: Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?
The term is primarily British; Americans say pickup line.
Whether they work is another matter.
