gutty

Full of courage

Gutty describes something or someone showing courage, determination, or pluck—the kind of grit that comes from the gut.

A gutty performance is one where someone pushes through difficulty or adversity with raw nerve.

The word appears most often in sports contexts to praise athletes who compete despite pain or long odds: She made a gutty comeback in the third set.

In Scottish use, gutty can also mean greedy or gluttonous.
