links course
Seaside golf terrain
A links course is a golf course built on sandy coastal terrain, characterized by few trees, natural dunes, deep bunkers, and exposure to sea winds.
The term comes from Scottish linksland—the undulating ground between beach and farmland where golf originated.
Links courses are considered the most traditional style: St Andrews is the world's most famous links course.
