guide hand
Supporting, directing hand
The guide hand is the non-dominant hand in activities requiring two-handed coordination.
In basketball, it steadies the ball during a shot while the shooting hand provides power: Keep your guide hand on the side of the ball.
In pool, it forms a bridge for the cue stick.
The term appears wherever one hand supports while the other executes.
