ground fog
Surface-hugging haze layer
Ground fog is fog that forms at or near the earth's surface, typically only a few feet deep.
It often develops on clear, calm nights when the ground cools rapidly, chilling the air just above it.
Unlike higher fog banks, ground fog may leave visibility clear at eye level while obscuring the ground: Ground fog filled the valley at dawn.
